From 2019 to 2024, BLOC’s coordinating team and members engaged in experimentation with models, programs, and initiatives under Project BUILD—a strategic effort to strengthen Black Leadership, Unity, Infrastructure, and Leadership Development. As this five-year plan concluded on December 31, 2024, now we transition into the next phase: Protect Black Freedoms.
Protect Black Freedoms is a two-year period of practice and action (2025-2027) designed to test our ability to build alternative systems and cultivate a mass movement capable of transforming the social, political, cultural, and economic conditions of our communities. Over the next two years, BLOC members will experiment and collectively assess our progress and refine our strategies to ensure the continued advancement of Black leadership, community power, and self-determined futures.
